This post was supposed to be called No Fuss Cinnamon Rolls 4 ways….but it didn’t turn out that way.Stay with me though.
I love cooking, and I confidently say that I can cook. I haven’t gotten any complaints yet. But for the first time I went into the kitchen I was all gamed and that kitchen kicked me swiftly in the arse and said GET OUT. I attempted to make “no fuss” puff pastry cinnamon rolls. My boss told me they were super easy. Which they very well could be….but guess who had to make it complicated!? Me of course, so my only child overactive imagine got the best of me. I’d seen so many flavors of Cinnamon Rolls that I wanted to try them all since I had all the stuff. Let’s be clear some if not most of these do work, they just don’t work in this recipe in my opinion. I think most of them work better in Regular Cinnamon Roll Recipes that involve taking your time to make dough, and bake them the traditional way.
So this kitchen fail is the post. Most don’t post a failure? But I wanted to post it anyway because cooking and learning is all about trial and error. In my humble opinion two of these flavors came out great. The Cranberry and Orange and Peanut Butter and Strawberry Glaze and when I say “came out great” I mean only that they didn’t burn or get stuck to the bottom.. The two that sucked major were the Nutella and Plain Pecan. The Nutella burned really badly and so did the Peanut Butter but it wasn’t as bad at the Nutella. The peanut butter rolls did come out okay, but the Strawberry Glaze that I will be using from now on came out really good. I used this recipe as the base of the cinnamon rolls, and switched up what I placed in the inside before rolling up the dough.

I started off by beating Brown Sugar and Butter to line the bottoms of the muffin tin pans. This will and is supposed to melt to make a glaze over the buns which didn’t happen …it just clumped together and …well it looked like crap.

The only filling that really need prepping was the Orange Zest…I might have went a little overboard since I free handed the fillings. It wasn’t too bad, if def tasted Orangy if that’s even a word.

Nutella/Orange Zest and Cranberry/ Peanut Butter
I saved the 4th flavor as plain on Pecan Swirl like the kind you got as a kid. Well they make it now, but I just don’t eat them.
I managed to use 2 puff pasties for the four different flavors. Using a barrier so I don’t mix the two flavors.

My favorite snack is Peanut Butter and Jelly. I love Strawberry Jam instead which is what the Peanut Butter Roll was inspired by. I mixed this one a whim. 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and 1/2 Tablespoon of milk, if it’s too thick then you can thin it out with more milk but a small bit at a time until you get the deserved consistency. I mashed up a couple of strawberries and mix with a bit of sugar to draw out the sugar in them. After waiting about 5 minutes, the juice from the berries I stirred into the Glaze. It was great. You can do chunks if you want too.
After the Rolls came out the oven the Butter/Brown Sugar mixture bubbled all over my pan and burned. The rolls didn’t get that sugar glazed look like in the instructional video. And waiting too long too cool made the rolls hard. These aren’t your normal Cinnamon rolls…they were flaky but crunchy. Which I wasn’t a fan of. The Nutella burned, the Peanut Butter barely made it, and the Plain Pecan…well Rest in Pieces to that one because it literally crumbled to pieces once I hacked it out of the muffin pan.
All in all the only ones pictures are the ones that I managed to get out quick enough and swiftly before they got hard.
While most of the people in the comments say these came out great, and I’ve found blog posts on these. I just think that all the other additions made these bad.

The bottom going Counter Clockwise.

Still with me? I’ll revisit these in the traditional form! Especially the Peanut Butter and Strawberry. So delicious!
I’ve been cussed out about posting more. It’s gonna happen!

By the way it’s my Grandmothers Birthday today! If it wasn’t for her I would know my way around the kitchen! I miss her everyday and I use the values she’s taught me everyday. If you have your grandparents around, close this out and call them just to say hi, tell them you love them, and make a date to go visit or take them for lunch. I know that death is for certain for us all but that’s easier said when it’s someone who you have a deep love for. When my grandmother passed my grandfather became my Dad. He has been there for me, if something happened tomorrow I know that I spent my time and his time on earth letting him know how much he means to me.
